  • Participation in Expert Group for Net!Works European Technology Platform (March 2011), including contributions to the published white paper ‘Broadband Wireless Beyond 2020’.

  • Reviewer for various journals, including Proceedings of the IEEE, IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters, IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Bio-Medicine, MDPI Sensors and Academic Journals’ Scientific Research and Essays.

  • Member of the Technical Programme Committee as a reviewer for various international conferences, including the IEEE Symposium on Wireless Technology & Applications, the IEEE International Conference on Electronics Design, Systems and Applications and the IEEE Symposium on Business, Engineering and Industrial Applications.


I recently performed a feasibility study, for Pattern Analytics Ltd, into wireless fire alarms for construction sites. This included preliminary system design, RF subsystem design and supplier/component identification and assessment, and a regulatory requirements review. I interact regularly with industry, both through my main role as a Research Fellow, and also through other methods, such as through LinkedIn discussion groups and the Technology Strategy Board’s “_connect” website for Knowledge Transfer Networks.

Professional Development

My professional development activities include:

  • Completion of “Essentials of Management” course, provided by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, May 2013

  • Attendance of the IET Colloquium on Terahertz (February 2018)

  • Participation in training webinars for COMSOL, COMSOL Ray Optics Module and COMSOL Wave Optics Module (January-March 2018)

  • Completion of introductory training course on use of milling machines and lathes (University of Birmingham, October 2018)
